salaam peace - Study support programme: May 2021- April 2022

Project Overview:

Salaam Peace's study support and life skills program for 9-16 year olds has proven to be an exceptional success. Since its inception in May 2021, the program has consistently delivered two 2-hour sessions per week, providing a secure and social space for children to complete their homework, revision, and additional coursework. This initiative has garnered impressive participation, with a total of 80 sessions conducted thus far. Beyond academic support, Salaam Peace has conducted engaging life skills workshops, covering vital topics such as communication, political awareness, and financial literacy. These sessions have not only fostered a sense of community among the participants but have also facilitated a marked improvement in academic proficiency, organizational skills, and independence.

Successes:

The positive impact of Salaam Peace's program is evident in the unexpectedly high participant turnout. Many of the attendees, not typically inclined towards additional educational sessions, have shown remarkable dedication and enthusiasm. This program's effectiveness lies in Salaam Peace's ability to design workshops tailored to the needs and interests of the youth. By using relatable language and examples, and delivering succinct, regular sessions, participants remain engaged and focused. The outcomes have been remarkable, with clear academic progress observed in the children who attend these sessions. This initiative stands as a testament to Salaam Peace's commitment to providing valuable support and life skills to young individuals in our community.

Post-Funding Plans:

Looking ahead, Salaam Peace remains committed to delivering study support sessions on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays until the end of the school year. These sessions, funded through unrestricted reserves, have proven to be invaluable to the community. Additionally, Salaam Peace is actively seeking grant funding to further support and expand this impactful initiative. Plans for the next academic year are contingent on staff schedules and ongoing projects, ensuring that Salaam Peace continues to provide essential support tailored to the evolving needs of our young participants. This program exemplifies Salaam Peace's dedication to nurturing the potential and well-being of our community's youth.
