Jumble Trail

  Jumble Trail

Sunday 17th September 2017  from 10am to 3pm

Join in with the great St James Big Local Jumble Trail 2017!

We had over 100 stalls last year, this year we want even more…. you can join in with the Jumble Trail if youhave things to sell. Residents will be setting up stalls in their front gardens to sell food, crafts and forgotten treasures. Everything from vintage clothing and furniture, to homemade sweet treats and toys will be available to purchase.  Everyone in the community in the area within St James Street, Coppermill Lane, Palmerston Road, Markhouse Road, Gosport Road and Blackhorse Road  are welcome to take part. Bargain hunters can navigate their own trail through the streets with the aid of a downloadable map providing the location of all stalls.  Look here  to get some inspiration and see photos of previous years.

It’s great fun whether you want to be a stallholder or a customer.

Big Local is a National Lottery funded initiative with £1million pledged to the St James Street Area of E17 over 10 years. Residents have to come together to decide how to spend the cash.  Throughout 2014 we asked lots of local people about how they wanted to spend the cash and in 2015 used your views to submit a plan to Local Trust. Almost £250,000 of the money has been drawn down and is being spent on the projects that you asked for!! People have told us that, amongst other things, they would like us to run events like Jumble Trail in the area. To find out more about other projects and to get involved, get in touch today!

How to get involved with Jumble Trail 2017

We are coordinating our Jumble Trail through an external website by clicking on the link  you will be taken to that site and there are a few different steps to follow in order to register your stall. The instructions are set out below but if you are having trouble or are trying to register someone who is not on the internet then please get in touch with our Community Development Worker Neesha by email: SJBLteamJT@gmail.com or telephone: 07896677473 for assistance.

Once you have clicked through to the external Jumble Trail website, follow these steps to advertise your stall:

  1. Email your name and address to  SJBLteamJT@gmail.com to get your promotional pack from us.
  2. Register as a Jumble Trail as a user.
  3. You will need to confirm your registration by clicking on the link they send you in the email address you’ve provided.
  4. Login to the Jumble Trail website and go our event page.
  5. Click the “Join” button
  6. Fill in the details of your stall and drag the red map pick with the black circle (normally found in the centre of the map) to your location before saving.  See below for instructions on what to do if you don’t get it in the correct place first time.
  7.  Don’t forget to add a description of what you are selling and add pictures to your profile. You can edit your profile to show a different display name if you would rather not reveal your own!
  8. Visit your Jumble Trail notifications page and edit your preferences. Hint: disable notifications about “Starts following my event”, “Adds a stall for my event” and “Posts a new comment on discussion you started” to filter our unnecessary and annoying messages.

Usually it would cost up to £2 per stall holder with Jumble Trail however this year St James Big Local are covering this fee along with publicity for the event so that residents can benefit without cost. We do ask however that you help with handing out some Big Local leaflets and getting as many of your neighbours involved as possible to make it a fantastic community event for everyone!

Trouble shooting

Your stall will be automatically logged on the printable Jumble Trail event map for people to find you easily on the day – so make sure that you get your pin in the right place on the map!

Don’t forget to get your friends and neighbours involved too as the more stalls in one location, the better the day will be! Get in touch if you want some leaflets and posters to publicise the event and get more people involved.

Stall holders are able to change their pin location themselves up until an hour before the start of the event, simply go to http://www.jumbletrail.com/event/E1720171, select ‘my stall ‘click edit stall and then you can move your magpie to the desired location.

Mac and Mobile users do seem to experience problems. Try to position your stall using a PC.

Stall holders can also change the description, title, categories etc as well as add photos of what they’ll be selling. On other trails, sellers have found that customers will come specifically for items in the photographs, and/or sales are made before or after the sale date, so this is a really useful tool!

Here is the link to our Facebook events page where you can chat with other Jumble Trailers, publicise your stall and/or see what bargains will be on offer! Don’t forget to like the page and invite your Facebook friends to join in the fun. Also remember to tweet and re-tweet about the event at @stjamesbiglocal
